Hello Friends and Neighbors,
I recently received a letter from the US Forest Service,
Ochoco National Forest regarding the restructuring of Rager Ranger Station.
As you know Rager Ranger Station is approximately 75 miles
east of Prineville. USFS is proposing to headquarter the Paulina District/Rager
Ranger Station personnel in Prineville and have those employees commute out to
the forest to implement the care, maintenance and stewardship of the Paulina District
of the Ochoco National Forest.
Sound good so far? Not to me. I believe this is a huge waist
of our tax dollars that funds the Forest Services. The travel cost alone will be
astronomical, not even considering the extra cost of added hours for travel
time. I am also concerned about the attention projects will be given if key
personnel linked to the success of the project have to travel in excess of 75
miles one way to the project site.
Furthermore I am concerned that the entire community was
not informed about this issue and ample time to comment has not been
afforded us.
I encourage each of you to put your concerns on paper
and forward them to:
